INFANTS & TODDLERS
Our children's activities are a growing part of the church. Currently on Sundays, we offer a nursery for infants and care for creepers & toddlers during all morning worship services and Sunday school in the Children and Youth building behind the sanctuary. On Sunday evening for worship and on Wednesday for small groups after Soul Café a nursery is also provided.
PRESCHOOL
On Sunday, Children's Church is provided to children ages 3 - 5K (kindergarten). They are dismissed from worship in the sanctuary after the children's moment at 8:25 a.m. and 10:55 a.m or from the gym at GraceVision (contemporary worship) before the minister's message. Sunday School is provided for 3's and 4's with an emphasis on worship preparation for our 4K children. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. for all ages.
On Wednesday nights the Cherub Choir (ages 3 - 4) meets at 6:15 p.m. Bible activities are provided after Cherub Choir until 7:20 p.m. in the Children's Building 1st floor. All children must be signed in/out by a parent or other designated adult. Extended childcare for those whose parents are involved in Wednesday night activities.
ELEMENTARY
Our elementary children are participating in Rotation Sunday School. Rotation teaches a Bible story or concept for 6 weeks using workshops with a different media each week (art, drama, storytelling, video, games, science, cookery, or music). At the end of the six week rotation the children all gather for "Care & Share", a time to put into action through mission what they have learned. The workshops meet upstairs in both the children's building and the education building. Schedules are posted around the church to help children find the appropriate workshop each Sunday.
On Wednesday, children meet for LIVE BIG! bible study at 6:15 p.m. on the 2nd Floor of the Children's Building. At 6:45 p.m. the children participate in choir in a fun and welcoming setting. Activities end at 7:20 p.m. and children gather on the 2nd floor of the children's building. All children must be signed in and out by their parents or other designated adult. Extended childcare is provided for those children whose parents are involved in Wednesday night activities.
6TH GRADE
On Sunday at 9:45 a.m., our 6th graders meet to participate in a yearlong study taught by our lay people and our ministers to help them learn about Methodism and the local church. In May, upon completion of the study, the participants are given the opportunity to be confirmed in the United Methodist church and become full members of First United Methodist Church, Trussville. The class meets upstairs in the education building, as well as making scheduled field trips during the year.
On Wednesday at 6:15 p.m., 6th graders gather in the Children's Building 2nd floor for Bible Study and fellowship. They talk issues they face on a daily basis and how to deal with them as a Christian.
